The Folkestone 52 Hour Film Challenge - write, shoot and edit a short film in a weekend

As a special event for the StrangeLove Festival which ran in Folkestone for two weeks of March 2017 we devised a variation on our usual weekend timed film challenge.

Instead of issuing the three prompts participants were given just one prompt - a mystery object that was picked up at the StrangeLove hub in the Brewery Tap from March 13th, the start of the StrangeLove festival.

Films were limited to being one minute long - a format designed to encourage lone filmmakers to take part, as as there was no requirement for dialogue or actions a far easier format for more experimental films. Filmmakers were also given a longer amount of time to make their film.

Unlike previous competitions this film was a group exercise with all participants making one small part of a much larger film - an adaptation of Tarot cards called 'Arcana'.

'Arcana' was screened at Lime Bar Cafe on March 29th 2017, and more Tarot cards were available for anyone wishing to make another film.
